WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO! I honestly can't believe this trailer dropped! Mario Strickers is back with another entry on the Switch. This is HUGE NEWS considering the last entry on the Wii came out 15 years ago!
If you're not familiar with Mario Strickers, it's basically Mario FIFA with less players per team and special powers. I guess in that sense it’s closer to the Inazuma 11 games, which were also great! I love how the Mario universe is now officially a gathering of all kinds of sports. Just on the switch, the man has fictional versions of racing, tennis, golf and now soccer/football is joining the party! From the looks of things, there appears to be more customization options too. Not only for the characters and their stats which is reminiscent of Mario Kart, but also each half of the field like we're in Yugioh Master Duel or something.

To me, Mario Strickers really stands out because of it's artstyle, which is best illustrated through the AWESOME looking special moves! Shoutout to my boy NintenU for compiling them all here! You might also notice the game is distinctly edgier than your average Mario title. It has nasty character introes, losing screens where they get genuinely pissed off and the previously mentioned special moves where they unleash their anime final attacks lol. Strickers always stood out to me for it's personality and attitude and this new entry doesn't seem to disappoint from the little I've seen so far.
Where the trailer does disappoint, is in the reveal than its roster would be limited to 10 characters. That's not necessarily unexpected considering Nintendo's continuous push of the Switch even in it's 5th year, strongly implies there's gonna be dlc for the game. This will probably introduce more characters similarly to the way they released a whole bunch of characters in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or may even have some hidden characters which need to be unlocked.

Rosalina is the newest major Strickers character here which makes sense considering she didn't exist when the last game was released. That being said, she basically kicked off Daisy from the roaster lol. Unless she's unlockable or will be introduced through a dlc later on, it's sad to say we won't be seeing sassy Daisy in here. More notable missing characters include Bowser Jr, Diddy Kong and Petey Piranha, though they were unlockable before so maybe Nintendo's keeping em hidden for now as a final surprise reveal on launch day.
Lastly, if you didn't play any of the Mario Stricker games, but you still wanna get hyped for Battle League, checkout this video by my man RelaxAlax. Dude does a great job covering what makes the last Strickers game and the franchise as a whole interesting.
