Will Kehaya be the Next BIG Baki Character?

Let’s see what’s been happening and cover Baki-Dou chapters 123 through 127.

At the beginning of March there was a large boulder in Japan that cracked and allegedly released a demon sealed within it for the last 1000 years. Seem familiar? Well Itagaki implemented that exact current scenario into chapter 123 and used it as an opportunity to introduce a new character. Before we see who that is, can we establish how the Baki timeline is an absolute mess lol. There are parodies of historic figures existing among each other and a number of US presidents, being the president, in the span of like a year. The series jumps from 90s to 00s, 2010s and even modern day as we see with the boulder.

We then see the new character called Kehaya, who finds himself in the presence of Yujiro almost immediately. It turns out he was the one who broke the boulder by kicking it and unsurprisingly, the Ogre wants to test these supposedly incredible kicks of his. After a bluff kick by Kehaya, Yujiro shows he outspeeds him by nearly crushing his balls and giving him a nosebleed. Kehaya then launches a kick, which Yujiro catches, but Kehaya surprises the Ogre and kicks him through the roof...wow.

That caught me off guard too lol. Definitely wasn't expecting Kehaya to be able to do anything against Yujiro. Despite the gaping hole in Tokugawa's ceiling, Yujiro comes back through the door in a matter of about a second. The way he immediately pops back up outside is both badass and goofy af lol. He then wastes no time and yeet kicks Kehaya through the same ceiling, with one key difference. The hole Kehaya left was a clear outline of his body, unlike the hole Yujiro left which had no clear shape. My man got yeeted outta there so skilfully, he left an imprint like when Saitama kicked Garou, straight up Tom & Jerry style. That means Yujiro was able to outskill Kehaya in his own speciality.

The way I see it, certain Baki characters have average to above average stats in most aspects, but one major skill or attribute that they specialise in... except Yujiro who is 100/100 in all aspects lol. You know the saying "jack of all trades, master of none"... well Yujiro is a master of all trades. There are very few moments where we see him overpowered, outskilled or losing to anyone in any particular field (one rare example was Pickle having higher raw strength seen during their first encounter, hence making Yujiro overcompensate through technique, which Pickle lacked at the time).

Honestly, it's unknown whether or not Kehaya will be the new big character on which the arc is solely based on like Pickle, Musashi and Sukune. He does seem like an interesting character and his speciality in kicks can lead the series into a cool direction. Remember how we saw Dorian train his legs in Revenge Tokyo? We could see some kind of short arc focusing on leg day lol. I wouldn't mind seeing Kehaya vs Dorian. His introduction is also somewhat similar to Pickle's where he immediately confronts Yujiro, but unlike Pickle who was shown to be physically superior, while lacking in technique, Kehaya seems to be outclassed, outskilled and outgunned.

It seems like the fight is over for now, though I do think we'll see him again due to his implied role as a demon slayer. Could this be the first time a demon back fails against an opponent or is he just a buncha hot air? Guess we'll find out as the arc goes on. As Sukune is taking a much needed break and Jack is gearing up to fight anyone and everyone, can Kehaya carry the new arc as the character of focus or is he just another fish in the huge pond that is the underground arena? Can't wait to see the upcoming fights!
