Winter 2025 Anime: What Will I be Watching?

 

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year yall! It's that time again. Here's all the anime I'll be watching this Winter 2025 season. As always, I'll first cover the top 10 anime in terms of popularity and give my thoughts on em, after which I'll jump into anything else that's interesting. Let's go!

The most popular show this season is unsurprisingly Solo Levelling season 2, which I will be watching. Despite not remembering any of the characters' names, I enjoyed season 1 a decent amount and am hoping season 2 is even better. Next up we got The Apothecary Diaries season 2, which I miiiight get to at some point in the future but not anytime soon since I haven't seen season 1. I actually expected Sakamoto Days to be the 2nd most popular of the season and I think by its conclusion it might actually end up in first place. I'm calling it right now, this will be the next "tiktok anime" in a similar way to how Jujutsu Kaisen and Blue Lock were. The same tiktok yappers that were obsessed with those series, will also be jumping on this one. I'll also be watching it, but I know Netflix is involved so I'm keeping my expectations on the lower end. It's also animated by TMS Entertainment, who are responsible for Dr. Stone and Baki, both of which vary in quality from time to time with some high highs and some low lows. I get the feeling they're gonna bring their A game for this one though.

Speaking of which, Dr. Stone: Science Future is up next. To be completely honest, for as much as I loved season 1, I gotta admit I've fallen out of love with Dr. Stone to an extent. I still need to wrap up New World Part 2, but I will be watching this season too when it finishes airing. My Happy Marriage season 2 is something I miiiiight check out eventually since I've surprisingly seen almost all of season 1, but it won't be any time soon. I definitely won't be watching The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You season 2 cuz of that bullshit ass title alone. I'm also skipping the rest of the top 10 being Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2, Honey Lemon Soda, I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class and I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time. None of these seem like my type of show.

Getting into the non-top 10 anime I'll be watching, we got Ubel Blatt. I've heard this being called the "Elf Berserk" by the manga community so I'm kinda surprised it's not in the top 10. I wanna see if that nickname is accurate so this is my most anticipated anime of Winter 2025. Speaking of elves, we got a lot of elf centered shows this season... and I'll be watching all of em cuz I'm a big fan of elves. Beheneko: The Elf-Girl's Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster! as well as Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! are both on my list. Honestly there's very little you need to do to get me to watch an elf show.

The Red Ranger becomes an Adventurer is a super wacky concept of a Power Ranger getting isekaid so I'll check it out for the shits and giggles. The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World is quite literally the same concept as Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, which I loved last year. The animation looks super low budget, but I wanna compare the two, just in case it happens to be a hidden banger. The last series I got is Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc Season 2. I'm enjoying the total goofiness of season 1 right now so I'm jumping on season 2 as soon as it drops all episodes.

Lastly, in terms of movies I only got the second installment of the Mononoke Movie (still haven't found a way to watch the first movie, so I'll have to snoop around soon). I thought Kaiju Number 8 also got a movie, but it's just an edited down recap of season 1 so I'm skipping it.

Overall, it looks like an alright season with a few potential bangers. Here's the final ranking of everything I'm planning to watch going from least to most hype:
