Summer 2025 Anime: What Will I be Watching?

 

Summer's here babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy🌊⛱️☀️ Time to check out this season of anime. As always I'll touch on the top 10 most popular anime first, followed by anything else that's catches my eye. Let's go!

At the number 1 spot we got My Dress Up Darling season 2. Yall know I avoid romance anime like the plague so it's a skip for me. Dan Da Dan season 2 is up next and honestly I had no clue it would air so soon after season 1. Kinda feels like I finished it yesterday and I enjoyed my time with it so I'll definitely continue watching it. A series I enjoyed less, but still enough to keep up is Kaiju Number 8 so I'll also be watching season 2. I'm hoping season 1 was the classic "it's taking a while cuz we're introducing all the main characters" deal and season 2 would be the "now that we know everybody shit's about to get real" deal.

Call of the Night season 2 is something I'll probably be watching down the line but not anytime soon cuz I still haven't seen season 1. Honestly, the only reason why I'm even interested in it is the BANGER op by Creepy Nuts. The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity and Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus are both romances so nope. I'll also be passing on The Rising of the Shield Hero season 4. I've seen season 1 and although I liked the first half it kinda lost me after that so I'm good. I will however be watching Sakamoto Days Part 2. I found season 1 to be just ok, but it has potential so I'm planning on sticking with it.

Gachiakuta is another series I'll be watching, but honestly I'm kinda shocked it's all the way down at number 9. This was supposed to be the brand new "hype show" but it looks to have been drowned out by all the big 2nd seasons dropping at the same time. Speaking of 2nd seasons, the last entry in the top 10 is Grand Blue season 2. Yup, that's a watch. It's not like I was the biggest fan of season 1 or anything but I like the summer vibes of the series and the opening is a SLAMMER!!! Let's see if they'll do more diving than drinking this time lol.

 

Now that we're done with the popular anime, here's everything else I'll be watching.

Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 2 is something I'll absolutely be watching. Dr. Stone had me in its grip at the beginning, then it started losing me towards the middle, but the last season was very enjoyable so I'm happy to say WE'RE SO BACK!!! I'm hyped for this one and pretty surprised it's not in the top 10. Ok... hear me out on Busu ni Hanataba wo. I know I said I'm avoiding romance shows but the premise of this one has potential. If this blows up and ends up a hidden gem, you heard it here first.

 

We also got some interesting looking ONAs. The settings of Lord of Mysteries and Bullet/Bullet have me intrigued so I'll be checking those out. Cat's Eye is a potential watch but since it's a remake I kinda wanna see the original version first. I've watched a decent amount of City Hunter which I really like and it's by the same creator so it's on my list.

Finally we got the movies and I'm kind of on the fence for the Chainsaw Man film. I honestly wasn't a big fan of season 1 and don't really keep up with it so I'll probably watch it later unless it's in my local cinema. What I'll actually be watching are the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies. MAL has them under a single entry as 3 episodes which is the first time I'm seeing something like this for a movie, but either way if nothing else, I know we're at least gonna get some masterful animation.
