Waruuuuuuuuuuuup! New season, new anime to watch. As always, I'll cover the top 10 first and then see if anything else catches my eye. Let's go!
Seeing One Punch Man season 3 at first place brings a tear
to my eye, because it shows that even with the slap in the face that was season
2, the series still has enough goodwill from season 1 and the manga to propel
it's (likely mediocre) season 3 to the top of the seasonal anime chart. I still have 0 faith
J.C. Staff will do a good job with it, but I guess I'm hoping for a miracle.
That's a must watch. Spy x Family season 3 is another watch for me. I still
think season 1 is the best so far, but it's enjoyable enough to keep me
watching (99% of my interest comes from Yor). My Hero Academia final season is
something I'll eventually get to waaaaaay down the line, but I'm still on season
4 so it ain't gonna be anytime soon lol. Then we got 3 skips in a row being To Your Eternity season 3, My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! and May I Ask for One Final Thing? with most of them being romance slop.
CAMPFIRE COOKING IN ANOTHER WORLD WITH MY ABSURD SKILL SEASON 2 LEZ GOOOOOOOOOO!!! Literally the only isekai I've been looking forward to. Season 1 was a contender for anime of the year in 2023, though I'm a little biased since I watched it with my ex gf so it's possible I enjoyed the feeling of watching it with her rather than the show itself. I guess I'll see if season 2 is enjoyable in its own right.
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's is a skip. Like I said, I'm only really interesting in one isekai and this ain't the one. Ranma ½ (2024) season 2 is a tough one since I am interested in experiencing the story, but I'd honestly much rather watch the original. I've read a bit of the manga which was pretty enjoyable, but I think I'll pass on the modern remake and eventually make my way to the og adaptation. Last and certainly least we got This Monster Wants to Eat Me, which I'll also be skipping cuz it doesn't seem like my type of show.
Now that we're done with the top 10, let's jump into the some of the more underground anime starting with Sanda. I'm calling it right now... anime of the season. I kid you not this looks AWESOME and I'm shocked how it didn't make it to the top 10, though I suspect it will climb up the ranks once it airs and people realise it's peak. It's literally a show about a guy who turns into Santa Claus and since it has 12 episodes, it'll be running throughout Christmas too! I'm investing ALL my stocks into this one so when I'm right and everyone jumps on the bandwagon, just know I was the one driving lol. Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider is another fun looking one I'll check out. My Kamen Rider knowledge extends only as far as Fuuto Tantei, but I'm happy to get into more of it. Ganglion looks goofy af and it kinda reminds me of The Fable which was surprisingly good so I'll give it a shot.
That's it for the TV series, but we got a couple more interesting titles. In terms of ONAs I'll check out Disney Twisted-Wonderland for the novelty of it. Everyone knows that when people usually say the words Disney and anime in the same sentence, everybody immediately thinks of the Studio Ghibli English dubs. Well this is Disney's first attempt at an actual anime so if it does well and isn't just a novelty project, we might see a whole new era of Disney first party anime. Record of Ragnarok season 3 babyyyyy! Always excited for this one despite the animation being a total gamble. Scenes will either look gorgeous or butt cheeks and no in-between. Can't wait to see the new aura farmers.
Apparently Golden Kamuy is getting both an OVA and a 2 part movie serving as a prologue to the final season? Super weird release schedule, but I've been keeping up with the series since the very beginning (OGs will remember everyone making fun of it for the CGI bear) so I'll definitely see it through to the end. Finally, The Last Blossom is gonna be the sleeper hit movie this season. I'm getting some "A Christmas Carol" vibes from the plot synopsis so it's shaping up to be a thought provoking movie.
