Winter 2026 Anime: What Will I be Watching?

WARUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP! This anime season will go down in history as quite possibly the MOST STACKED season EVER! As always I'll take a look at the top 10 series first and then see what gems lie underneath. Let's go!

Seeing Frieren season 2 at first place in both seasonal popularity and score is AWESOME! Big Frieren fan so I'm actually watching it weekly instead of binging it when it finishes airing, which pretty rare for me. Kinda bummed out it's only gonna be 10 episodes but hey... 10 is better than 0 so I'll take it.

Another series I literally HAVE to watch weekly is JJK season 3 because the entire social media feed of anyone even remotely interested in anime is FILLED with clips, edits and memes 30 minutes after a new episode drops. JJK has so much motion, it's literally not worth it to wait until it finishes airing, cuz the whole thing will be spoiled by then. The chokehold it has on social media is GENERATIONAL and honestly pretty deserving. It has a really strong start so far and I'm guessing it'll be a contender for anime of the year 2026.

Hell's Paradise season 2 is my first reluctant watch. Season 1 was nothing special, but I've heard it gets better so I'll see if it delivers... ah who am I kidding, I'm only gonna watch it for that gooner bait chick that sweats a lot lol. Oshi No Ko season 3 is a skip. One season was enough for me to see I'm not interested. I might check out Sentenced to Be a Hero, but not anytime soon only because I've seen a couple cool shots of animation. Same thing with Fire Force season 3 part 2. I'll get to it eventually, but it's not a priority for now.

Fate/strange Fake is the easiest watch of all time. I see Gilgamesh... I watch. This guy is in my top 5 anime characters of all time list. That's the last of the top 10 I'll be watching cuz I'll be skipping You and I are Polar Opposites, Chained Soldier season 2 and MHA Vigilantes season 2. All of them have a couple interesting looking elements, but not enough for a full watch.

Getting into everything else we got Golden Kamuy Final Season, which I'll definitely be watching. This has been an extremely solid series and I've been following it since the very beginning so I'm excited to see how it wraps up. Toshizou Hijikata's my GOAT! The Darwin Incident is another watch for me ONLY because the main character's a talking monkey. Kinda reminds me of My Gym Partner's a Monkey, but it seems a lot more serious.

MF GHOST SEASON 3 BABYYYYYYYYYYY!!! For those of you who have been reading these blogs for a while, you might remember that season 2 was my anime of the year last year so I can't wait to see the new race especially with Kanata being injured. I'll watch it all as soon as it finishes airing, cuz I found I enjoy the pacing much more that way and thankfully I don't have to worry about seeing any spoilers on social media, cuz nobody gives a shit about it. I mean I'm looking at the current number of people watching it on MAL and it says there are only 24k, which is a shame considering how much I like this series and how historically important it is as Initial D's sequel. Some mfs just don't know ball... Lastly, we got Hokuto no Ken: Kenougun Zako-tachi no Banka. This seems like a super short project and I don't really know why the more modern focus of Fist of the North Star is leaning towards gag comedy when that was almost never present in the original, but it seems like a small committment so I'll check it out, even though I'm not expecting anything great.

STEEEEEEEEEEEEL BAAAAAAAAAAALL RUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!! Bet you though I forgot huh? Unfortunately ever since the Netflix deal with Stone Ocean, Jojo is now in the ONA category since it premiers exclusively online instead of on TV. Regardless, as of now it's the number one ONA of the season with more than twice the viewers of the number 2, which is AWESOME to see! We're finally back baby! The only thing I'm unsure about is its release schedule, which is still left up to anyone's guess. We know that we'll definitely be getting the 1st stage of the race, but after that... who knows? It might be weekly, it might be in batches, it might even be in stages, but at least it finally begins! The ideal situation we're all hoping for is for them to release the episodes covering the 1st stage all at once (which may also be one long 40 minute special first episode) and then follow up with 1 episode per week. Fingers crossed🤞

Beastars Final season part 2 is another concluding series I'll be finishing and coincidentally we also got Baki-dou whose mangaka Keisuke Itagaki is the father of Beastars' mangaka Paru Itagaki. I can't tell you how excited I am for Baki even though this is the point in the series where the writing starts taking a nose dive with a lot of questionable battle outcomes (Musashi vs Pickle and Jack vs Motobe both making 0 sense). Even with all that the Musashi arc is gonna be total insanity and I'm glad we'll get to see it animated.

Lastly, in terms of movies we got All You Need is Kill, which is based on the one-shot manga. I've actually seen the Hollywood live action adaptation which was called Edge of Tomorrow, but I think this one'll be much more manga accurate.

Finally, here's everything rated from least to most hyped:

Hokuto no Ken: Kenougun Zako-tachi no Banka, Hell's Paradise season 2, All You Need is Kill, The Darwin Incident, Beastars Final season part 2, Golden Kamuy Final Season, Fate/strange Fake, Frieren season 2, Baki-dou, MF Ghost Season 3, JJK season 3, Steel Ball Run
