Fall 2022 Anime: What Will I be Watching?

WHAT UUUUUUUP!

Keeping the tradition going, here's a blog post for what I'll be watching this 2022 Autumn season. Just like my summer post, I'll address the top 10 most popular seasonal anime according to mal (at the time of me writing this) followed by anything else I find intriguing. LEZ GO!

Yeah, yeah, Chainsaw man. I'll check it out just like everyone else will. Ngl, I'm nowhere near as hyped as the general anime fandom anticipating it and the trailer looked like a bunch of themes and imagery grabbed from elsewhere, mixed together, buuuut I've heard nothing but praises and I haven't checked out the manga so I'll give it a shot. Next up... YES! Big time YES! Mob Psycho season 3 babyyyyyy! I thought season 1's Reigen 1000 moment was on par with something you'll see in One Punch Man, which is a huge compliment cuz OPM (s1) is one of the only 6 anime I've rated a 10/10. Season 2 of Mob Psycho was also really enjoyable though mainly for the plot and the development of Reigen. Definitely the best character in the show. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Spy X Family season 2. Yeah I'll check it out, cuz I had a good time with season 1. I thought the first 4 or so episodes were really strong and then it dipped ever so slightly, but was definitely an enjoyable experience. As for Hero Aca season 6... no lol. I'm still on season 2 of Hero Aca and I have no interest in continuing. Maybe some day when I'm suuuuuper bored I'll pick up season 3, but getting to 6 will take years.

Bro...bro. HOW is Bleach TYBW only number 5 in popularity?! If you need any proof of how much the anime fandom has expanded in the last decade, here it is. So many new people have come since 2012 when Bleach ended that a lot of them don't even know about the Big 3. I'm honestly annoyed that Bleach isn't number 1 on the list, cuz its return is eeeeeeeasily my most anticipated anime of not only this season, but the whole year. I've not only read the manga, I have all 3 box sets and I remember I couldn't put the volumes down when I was reading the TYBW arc so I expect pure greatness. I'd say it's probably the 2nd best manga arc in all of Bleach after the grand Arrancar arc, which is my favourite. There are slight quality concerns I'm having over the show, as Pierrot's record hasn't been the best recently, but considering the return was originally announced for 2021, meaning it had an extra year in the oven, it better not come out half baked. If there is one anime they need to get right this year, it's easily this one. After a decade of getting memed on for never wrapping up, us Bleach fans can finally have the last laugh.

Fumetsu no Anata e 2nd Season. Honestly... no clue what this is. Apart from the ridiculous popularity of Chainsaw Man, this whole list has been nothing but sequels so far lol. Skiiiiiip. Blue Lock... again, don't know anything about this one including why it's in the top 10. I'm a notorious hater of the soccer/football sport, but the characters do look kinda interesting. Still, I doubt it could beat Inazuma 11, which is the best soccer anime in my mind. Maybe I'll watch it in a few years if I get an itch, but its a pass for now. Next we got more Uzaki chan. I'm not really a fan of these types of shows, though I'm a huge fan of Uzaki's mom 😉. I'd lump Uzaki chan with Nagatoro where the whole show revolves around 1 character with 1 gimmick, which all the gags are based on. Most times I see the slice of life tag, I immediately think 12 episodes of boring shit, where all the characters do nothing. It's one of the 3 genres that make up what I like to call the "the death trifecta". The other 2 being comedy and slice of life. If a show has all 3, it's an immediate skip.

Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Pass. Enough isekai. Finally, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun 3rd Season Also pass. Not really a fan of the whole whacky adventures in a demon world concept.

Now that we're done with the top 10, let's jump into some of the other shows that probably should have been way higher on the list. Golden Kamyu season 4. Finally some more Goldem Kamuy. I'm a pretty big fan of the series. All seasons are high 7/10s for me. What it does better than pretty much all other anime is illustrate how fragile allyship is. Everyone has teamed up with everyone and has also betrayed everyone at some point. You never really know who's on whose side, and neither do the characters, which keeps me on my toes. I even got a mildly interesting story about it. This was when I watched season 3, which was during winter time. Unfortunately, the old heating system at my place got busted up and while the landlord took his time bringing a portable heater, I remember watching Golden Kamyu season 3. There was a scene where a few of the characters were in the snow and as they were lowkey freezing, I was also lowkey freezing, which ended up emersing me in the story lol. Can't wait to see more.

The final show I'll be watching is Peter Grill season 2. I remember season 1 being pretty short and I liked how goofy it was. It was kinda like the One Punch Man of ecchi series (though nowhere near as good as One Pumch Man). Definitely gonna be a fun little time wster.

Soooo yeah, seems like I'll be watching 6 anime this season. Rather than  just recapping them, I think I'm gonna rate them by how hyped I am for em. Here's my ranking from most to least hyped:

Bleach TYBW, Mob Psycho 100 s3, Golden Kamyu s4, Chainsaw man, Spy x Family s2, Peter Grill s2

Overall, it's looking like a great season! If you're coming from TikTok feel free to comment what you'll be watching! Later.
